In 2019, we celebrated our 10-year anniversary as a community-based organization. Thanks to the financial help of our partners, we have continued to support youth transition in Kenya through education, information-technology related programs and institutional support — feeding and educating children in the orphanage.
After the anniversary, we set goals and objectives to use the 10 years of success to support more youth through our programs. Little did we foresee the COVID-19 pandemic on its way. Nevertheless, we endured the two trying years and, as an organization, we have much to be grateful for — including the achievements on the graduation day of 2022.
- Thanks to our sponsors from the Czech Republic, who never terminated their support despite many challenges over the years.
- Our centre remained open and, with all the pandemic measures in place, several students continued with training related to IT courses and skills.
- As an organization, we also helped raise awareness of pandemic-prevention measures in the Mukuru slum community where we operate.
Between 2020 and 2022 we built up our programs: 43 students enrolled in the IT program, with 30 graduating; the Education for Africa sponsorship program kept growing (more than 50 students sponsored since 2009, with three recently succeeding in medical studies); and we continued institutional support for the Scream Africa children’s home.
Having evaluated our achievements so far, we can confidently say that launching this project was the right idea. We remain committed to giving more young people the tools and education needed to build a better future. Thank you for your trust, and congratulations to all AFA IT program graduates of 2022.
