Afrika Africe

Project

Africa for Africa is a community-based project founded in 2009 and supported by the Czechoslovak Hussite Church – Prague Diocese and other donors from the Czech Republic. The impetus for establishing the project arose from the success of a five-year education support program of the Prague Diocese to support Kenyan students studying in Czech universities. The founder is Dr. Phanuel Osweto, a Kenyan living in the Czech Republic.

The project currently runs three programs in Kenya.

AFA Computer Centre

The Computer Centre, known as AFA Computer Training Centre (ACTC), was established in May 2010 and is situated around the Donholm roundabout in Nairobi. It provides computer training to needy youth from the Mukuru slum of Nairobi. The computer programs are divided into basic and advanced programs. Our main objective is to train students in computer literacy, with a focus on professional programs that can enable them to gain employment opportunities upon completion of the training.

Education Sponsorship

We have established a sponsorship program supporting the education of bright students from poor and needy families. Such students benefit from Czech families and institutions that pay their school fees in Kenyan schools. The program has so far benefited over 30 students, and we still look forward to helping more.

Children’s Home “Scream Africa”

Located in Nairobi-Embakasi, Scream Africa is an orphanage that provides a home to more than fifty boys and also comprises a basic school and a high school. Together with other organizations and volunteer groups, AFA has been involved in providing monthly financial support for food and management of the orphanage. We have also been supporting the high-school education of some of the boys from this centre.
